Tell us before your session if
You are pregnant, have a bleeding disorder, a pacemaker or implanted device, are on blood-thinning medication, have diabetes affecting healing, a skin infection at the treatment site, or have recently had surgery.
None of these automatically rule acupuncture out — but they change how, where and whether we needle. We work alongside your doctor's treatment, never in place of it, and we do not ask anyone to stop prescribed medicine.

Acupuncture therapy — your questions
Far less than people expect. The needles are hair-thin — nothing like an injection needle. Most patients feel a brief prick at most, and some feel nothing at all. Once the needles are in you may notice a dull heaviness or warmth around the point, which is normal and usually settles within a minute.
Never. Every needle comes from a sealed sterile single-use pack that is opened in front of you, and goes straight into a sharps container after the session. Nothing is cleaned and used again.
It depends on how long the problem has existed. Recent complaints often respond within 4–6 sessions. Long-standing sciatica or chronic migraine usually needs a longer course, sometimes with sessions spaced further apart as things improve. You get an honest estimate after the first assessment.
Usually not. Occasionally a tiny drop of blood appears when a needle is removed, and a small bruise can form if a superficial vessel is nicked — both are minor and settle on their own. If you are on blood thinners, tell us beforehand so we can adjust the approach.
Acupuncture generally works alongside ongoing medical treatment, and we ask about your medications during consultation. We never ask anyone to stop prescribed medicine. If you are on blood thinners, have a pacemaker, are pregnant, or are under active treatment for a serious condition, mention it first and check with your treating doctor as well.
Yes. Most people carry on with their day normally. Some feel pleasantly tired for a few hours after the first session, so keep that in mind if you have something demanding straight after. Avoid heavy gym work on the same day.
